Minor release brings to the table plenty of improvements

VLC media player has just been updated to build 2.0.1. However, despite the minor release, the modification list is pretty long, mostly filled with fixes.

Repairs have been made as far as accessing various details is concerned, either retrieving information from the web or from media discs. As such, CDDB information gathering has been improved as well as Blu-ray disc playback or DVD decryption on some RPC-I drives.

The current revision supports MXPEG files, fixes QuickTime audio codecs in RTSP streams. Additionally, MKV files with multi-video tracks are now better supported.

Various interfaces (Mac OS X, Qt, skins, Web) have also been modified for the better. Mac users should experience a noticeable faster launch time as well as the possibility to hide the side bar. Fixes to the Qt interface include allowing a native seek slider instead of the blue.

More details about the changes are available here.
