There won’t be any automatic logins into random Facebook accounts anymore

The final version of UC Browser 8.0 for Android phones was released a few days ago in the Android Market and the application already had its share of complains.

Long-time users, but also new ones have been complaining that they are automatically logged into random Facebook accounts with full access.

Although we’ve been given a testing version of UC Browser 8.0 for Android a few days before its official release in the Android Market, we were unable to replicate the issue, which made us believe that this is a server-related problem.

For those who are not familiar with UC Browser and UC Web, the company behind the application, this browser’s traffic is routed through a proxy via the UC Web’s servers.

The weird thing was that the problem only appeared after updating to the latest version of UC Browser for Android.

At first glance it seemed like UC Web servers would store user accounts names and passwords, but we quickly dismissed this idea, given the experience of the team behind the UC Browser application.

So, we decided to reach out to UC Web and get an official statement from them. We also wanted to know if the company is aware of this problem and if it’s working to address this issue.

To our pleasant surprise, the folks at UC Web were aware of the issue and already fixed it. Here is what they really did:

1. Stop saving cookie on our servers, just let the client save local cookies, which means users can login your own account, not other ones anymore;

2. Currently users can re-login into their accounts without any problem;

3. Our cookie server met a problem which has just been fixed and it will not appear again.” UC Web also added that the company never stored any user account or password on their servers.
