S, M and L, all under the same hood

The German TrekStor company is perhaps the best-known (and one of the last) European manufacturer of portable media players, its lineup rivaling those of some of the most renowned names in the industry (at least as far as the number and variety of models is concerned). And speaking of variety, the company's latest announcement is truly an impressive one, since TrekStor's new i.Beat move portable media player is available in no less than three different versions, each one providing different size and features.

So, the PMP is available in three sizes: S, M and L (kind of reminds you of shirt measures, no?). The S model measures 38.5 mm x 74.5 mm x 9.5 mm, with a 3.8 cm screen size; then comes the M version (which sports a 4.6 cm display) and, last but not least, the L version, with its 5.1-cm display and 45.5 mm x 78.0 mm x 10.0 mm dimensions. Each of the displays has 65,000 colors and can be used either for viewing movies or navigating through the device's various menus.

The i.Beat move offers quite a large amount of storage space, ranging between 1 and 8 GB of built-in flash memory. However, the M and L models also include a microSD memory card slot, which means that users can actually expand the available storage capacity. Pretty much as expected, they'll need a USB 2.0 port in order to transfer data onto these devices, as well as for powering the rechargeable, lithium-polymer internal batteries.

The new family of PMPs from TrekStor also delivers a very high level of versatility, since it works with pretty much any and every format out there. Thus, the devices support conventional MP3, WMA and WAV files, as well as the digital rights management-protected WMA DRM 9 format needed to listen to songs purchased over the Internet. It also plays AVI format videos, displays JPEG photos and comes with an integrated FM radio with memory for 25 radio stations and an automatic station search function.

The i.Beat move S, M and L models can be purchased pretty much anywhere around Europe at prices ranging from 49 Euros (the S, 2 GB version) and up to 109 Euro (L model, 8 GB), which are some pretty fair price points, taking into account everything that these models have in store for us.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
