Developer The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA have just announced that they are working on a new strategy title called Total War: Attila, offering a full video and screenshot gallery linked to the experience, but the two companies are giving fans of the new game a little more details about it by also delivering a look at the concept art that’s being used in the game making process.

Gamers who are interested in the idea can take a look at some of the buildings that will be part of the strategic map and the units that gamers will use during the tactical battles.

There’s also a look at the way one ship evolved during the various stages of development, and the company is also including the packshot for Total War: Attila, which is focused on the face of the man known as the Scourge of God.

Destruction and the Dark Ages

The new title is a surprise for much of the fan base, who was expecting The Creative Assembly to return to one of its classic series and to announce that it was working on Medieval III, created using the new engine that also powered Rome II.

There was also a smaller group that was waiting for the studio to reveal that it was using the Warhammer fantasy license that it acquired in 2012 in order to deliver a new strategy experience that includes human factions but also orcs, skaven and demons.

Total War: Attila will focus on a dark period in the history of the world when the Roman Empire was crumbling because of both internal and external factors and the fragmented continent also needed to find a way to deal with the powerful Hun invaders and their cavalry-focused tactics.

Fans will get a range of new features

Total War: Attila is set to include the two most asked for elements that Rome II did not have: family trees and skill trees for generals.

At the same time, the development team at The Creative Assembly says that warfare will be more exciting, with fire designed to give players more tactical choices, and that all the weapons and the units are designed to be as historically accurate as possible.

The new title will also include a more powerful graphics engine that will offer improved visuals and a more accurate map.

Total War: Attila will be launched on the PC at some point in 2015.
