Xiang Ligang, a telecommunications expert, is telling Chinese media agencies that 23-year-old Ma Ailun, who died after being electrocuted by her iPhone, may be partially to blame for her own death.

“The victim, 23-year-old Ma Ailun, had been using what appeared to be an unauthorised iPhone 4 charger, CCTV reported on Tuesday. According to Xiang Ligang, a telecommunications expert interviewed by CCTV, the charger Ma had been using may have been a ‘knockoff’ – a fake,” reports South China Morning post.

May have been?! It's been a week since the incident took place and no one on this planet is able to confirm whether that charger was an original one or a knockoff. All you have to do is just pick up the thing and read the label!

As you can imagine, this isn't the end of the story. In fact, this is just a theory and Apple itself has some people investigating the matter as you are reading these lines. An official statement is yet to be made regarding the incident.

But one thing is for sure. Knockoffs are certainly not the way to go. The smaller the vendor, the bigger the risk for hazard. If you’ve bought an iPhone, it’s best to go with Apple all the way.
