The newly released package provides all the drivers for most of Intel’s Ethernet adapters

Intel’s team has made a new Ethernet Connections CD, version 18.2, that just like the previous 18.1 package, contains all the drivers needed for most of its Ethernet adapters, and is compatible with all known versions of Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD operating systems.

Although an official release note is provided, no changes have apparently been made to this release and no new devices have been included in the support list. They have probably found workarounds for small issues that would improve the adapters’ performances.

The same, compatible Gigabit Ethernet, Ethernet Converged, Ethernet Server, PRO/100, PRO/100+, and PRO/1000 adapters and controllers from the previous version are also suitable for this CD.

The download record is an OS-independent huge zip file that is targeted at those who really need all the drivers included in the package. Moreover, Intel recommends that command line installation to be used if the system is running under a Windows Server Core platform.

That’s because if “Autorun.exe” were used, clicking “View User Guides” or “Networking at Intel” buttons would result in an error message, and that’s due to the fact that the files being launched are not associated with any Web browser.

So, if you really need all those drivers found in the Intel’s CD, follow the link below.
