Strider is an upcoming side-scrolling platform game in development by Capcom's Osaka studio and California-based Doube Helix Games.

The game is intended as a reboot of classical NES platformer Strider. Players will take control of the series' protagonist Strider Hiryu, fighting in the Kazakh City metropolis, with his ultimate goal being the defeat of villain Grandmaster Meio.

Strider Organization's best assassin travels with his companions, two tiny robots and a robot panther. The spinning robots will have many different uses in the upcoming game, as Siliconera informs.

The first use will have them circling around Strider like satellites, and shooting fire plasma balls whenever Strider swings his Cypher. They will also help protect players from missiles and assist with hacking doors throughout Kazakh City.

Capcom intends to release the game some time during 2014, for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows PC platforms.

The release date for the Japanese version of Strider for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of Strider has been revealed to be February 22.
