The development team at Valve is announcing a new update for the Steam digital distribution service, which is automatically downloaded and applied when the client is restarted.

The list of fixes includes:

- Removed an error message that incorrectly blocked offline mode - Improved handling of uploads for screenshots and saved games - Improved anti-virus compatibility for future updates (will not take effect until the next update) - Fixed a client crash when loading extremely large community profiles - Fixed a UI issue that prevented users from entering very long cd-keys

Valve has also eliminated some incompatibilities between the overlay and games when using DirectX 9 and 10 and the Steam client also starts up faster.

The team says that anti-virus programs might interfere with the update and that a fix will be offered in future upgrades.
