Start Menu X has received a brand new update today that brings improved features and several essential bug fixes for Windows 8 and 8.1 users.

The release notes reveal that version 4.91 comprises improved skip Metro support, so unless you’re using it on Windows 8.1, you can now set up the program to let you boot directly to desktop without any other glitches that may interfere with your configuration.

In addition, basic keyboard navigation support has also been added, while search doesn’t lose focus anymore when you use keyboard instead of mouse to open the menu.

As mentioned, Start Menu X also runs flawlessly on Windows 8.1 Preview and it continues to be available free of charge for all users regardless of their platform.
