Lightbox Interactive and Sony Santa Monica have finally confirmed a release date for Starhawk, their upcoming shooter, which is scheduled to arrive on May 8 for the PlayStation 3, while deploying a video about its new beta stage.

Starhawk was announced last year as a spiritual successor to the older Warhawk. As opposed to the online-only title, the new game will deliver a full-fledged experience, complete with single-player and multiplayer modes.

After plenty of teasing, the two studios have now confirmed that the game will be released on May 8, exclusively for the PlayStation 3. What’s more, besides the aforementioned release date, the developers have also presented a special video about the public beta stage that has just been deployed onto the PlayStation Network.

In case you’re not aware, all PlayStation Plus subscribers can now access the Starhawk online beta. At the end of the month, those who bought special editions of Uncharted 3 can join the online experience, while on February 21, every PSN users will be allowed to try out the game.
