The Electronic Arts E3 2014 press conference event kicked off with a trailer for DICE's upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront, making some parts of the internet go crazy with anticipation.

Although no actual gameplay was shown in the video, the developers managed to sneak some early in-engine glimpses of the snowy plains of Hoth and the forest biome of the Endor moon, which looked alright, for now.

The game is powered by EA's fancy new engine, developed by Swedish developer DICE, Frostbite. The Frostbite engine in its latest iteration, Frostbite 3, is also the force that powers DICE's latest tactical shooter, Battlefield 4.

EA first announced Star Wars: Battlefront during last year's edition of the E3 convention, and it is rumored that the game will be ready as early as 2015's summer, part of an exclusive publishing agreement with Disney, the rights holder for the Star Wars franchise.

Star Wars: Battlefront is said to be the first in a series of games set in the science fiction universe, with one more being worked on by Dead Space developer Visceral and another one supposedly by BioWare, makers of the Star Wars: The Old Republic massively multiplayer online role-playing games.

EA did not provide any provisional date for Star Wars: Battlefront, but the teaser promised that more details would come out early next year.
