Next year, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony is expected to bring to the market a new Android-based flagship handset, one that is currently said to sport the codename of “Odin.”

Spotted in a UAProf before as Sony C650X, the new device is now said to hit shelves with a 5-inch touchscreen display on the front, capable of boasting a full HD resolution.

Moreover, the mobile phone is said to pack a quad-core Snapdragon S4 APQ8064 SoC (the same as LG’s new Optimus G), complemented by 2GB of RAM.

Provided that the info coming from Esato Forums is accurate, Sony might finally be able to enter the fight for supremacy in the segment of large screen devices, where Samsung’s Galaxy Note series currently rule.

In fact, rumor has it that Sony is also considering the launch of an even larger smartphone next year, one that would sport a 6-inch touchscreen display.
