Sony Xperia Z3, the flagship Android-based smartphone that mobile phone maker Sony Mobile is expected to make official in early September during the IFA 2014 show in Berlin, has just made an appearance at the FCC, which confirms its near launch.

The handset has been spotted at the FCC with codename PM-0802-BV attached to it, and received approvals in two versions.

One of them is meant to land on shelves in Japan at wireless carrier NTT DoCoMo, thus featuring support for this operator’s LTE network.

The second phone variant has emerged under the codename of PM-0806-BV, sports model number D6653, and is expected to arrive on the market as the international version of the device, a recent post on Blog of Mobile explains.

When announced, the Sony Xperia Z3 should include a 5.15-inch full HD screen, a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, and a 20.7-megapixel camera with 4K video recording.

The phone is also said to run under the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system, while featuring a variety of exclusive apps and software enhancements coming from Sony itself.

No official confirmation on the phone’s hardware specs and availability has been provided as of now, but leaked photos with it have already provided us with a glimpse of what it might look like.
