Sony announced last month the rollout of Android 5.0 Lollipop update for several of its Xperia smartphones. Although rumors claimed the Japanese company would not deliver the upgrade to non-Xperia Z smartphones, Sony announced that at least other devices would get the update.

We're talking about the Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3, which have been confirmed to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update this month.

Even though Sony announced the deployment of Lollipop for some of its most popular Xperia Z phones, it did not provide a schedule for the release.

Today, the Japanese company confirmed it has expanded the rollout of Android 5.0 Lollipop update to include the Xperia Z2 HSPA+ (model D6502). The Xperia Z2 Tablet should start receiving Lollipop beginning today as well, Sony announced.

According to Sony, the update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, which means it will take some time until it reaches all countries. The handset maker recommends users to check locally and watch for the notification.

Sony Xperia Z might be the last to receive the update

But what about the other Xperia Z smartphones that should receive Android 5.0 Lollipop? Sony has just confirmed that Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra will be getting the update beginning next week.

In the same piece of news, the Japanese company announced that Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 would receive the Lollipop update soon after the Xperia Z devices mentioned above.

The last smartphone to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop will be the Xperia Z, Sony confirmed. The handset manufacturer also states that more details on timings for Lollipop release will be available soon.

We'll be keeping an eye out for any additional info on Lollipop update for Sony's Xperia smartphones, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
