The team at Sony handling the PlayStation 4 business in Asia says that it would welcome competition from the Xbox one from Microsoft because it would allow the entire video game market to significantly expand.

Hiroyuki Oda, a leading executive with the company, is quoted by Game Watch as saying that, “I’d like to tell this with no misunderstandings: When the Xbox One will be released conveying various charms in a different way, while competing properly, I think the most important thing will be that it’s going to expand the video game industry and the market itself.”

The Xbox One is at the moment only available in 13 countries, but Microsoft has promised that it will also be launched in the rest of the world this year.

The PlayStation 4 is set to be officially offered in Japan starting with February 22 and Sony has promised to deliver a range of exclusive experiences for fans who have waited for the device for the past three months.
