Sony is apparently working on a Virtual Reality headset for the PlayStation 4, a potential rival to the current Oculus Rift, and the device might appear as early as 2014, according to a new report.
Sony wants to promote its new PS4 in many different ways, and one such avenue will be virtual reality, according to a report from Eurogamer, which cites inside sources from the Japanese company.
Apparently, Sony is working on its own gaming-dedicated VR headset, which is based on one of its current headmounted displays, the HMZ-T2 (pictured above).
The PS4-compatible headset is already being demonstrated internally using the Driveclub racing game for the next-gen console.
Such a launch will deliver a rival for the Oculus Rift VR headset, which generated a newfound interest in the technology after a very successful crowdfunding campaign.
