Limitations on stock no longer in effect for the PS4 although Xbox One units are limited

After hearing a rumor that large retailer GameStop might actually stop accepting pre-orders for the PS4 and Xbox One, a new report has appeared, saying that for this weekend at least, GameStop stores can accept an unlimited number of pre-orders but only for the PS4.

Ever since E3 2013 last week, when both the PS4 and Xbox One received actual prices, customers have flocked to retail stores to put money down for one or both next-gen consoles.

The numbers were so high that GameStop was even rumored to stop accepting pre-orders as it reached its number of allocated units.

That isn't the case, at least in terms of the PS4, as CVG confirms from inside sources that, at least for the current weekend, GameStop will accept an unlimited number of pre-orders.

Apparently, Sony has told the retailer to dismiss any previous limitations concerning PS4 units.

Until that point, each GameStop store had around 100 PS4s allocated to it, while only 20 or 30 Xbox One Day One Editions.
