Gran Turismo 6 is a crucial game for the final years of the PlayStation 3 and it seems that Sony wants to use the racing game to test a number of ideas about monetization and downloadable content delivery.

Jim Ryan, the president and chief executive officer at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, tells VG247 during the Silverstone event that, “Sure, monetization is important, but it’s equally important to provide sustained, ongoing engagement from the consumer for months and months and months, so they feel wrapped up in this while GT thing.”

The game will arrive complete with 33 tracks and 1,200 cars and more of them will be added after launch, although it is not clear how much players will have to pay for it.

Gran Turismo 6 will get a demo in July, which will accompany the launch of the GT Academy program, and the whole experience will arrive in winter.
