Skype for Windows Phone is expected to make an official appearance on devices before the end of this month, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Nothing has officially been confirmed on this, but The Verge claims that sources from Microsoft pointed at the near availability of the software.

Rumor has it that the application will be designed in line with Microsoft’s Metro style guidelines, and that there will be a two column grid to display contacts. The app will be standalone, though it will be integrated in the OS in Windows Phone 8.

This report is in line with a previous story on the matter, which suggested that Microsoft was currently testing Skype on Windows Phone internally, and that it planned to make it official in the very near future. Most probably, the app will be released in beta at the MWC.
