Origin and SimCity servers aren't handling the new influx of players from Europe

Electronic Arts released its long-awaited SimCity title in Europe a few hours ago and already the servers of the game and those of its Origin digital distribution service are encountering problems, despite EA's promises that the launch of the game in the old continent will be much smoother.

Update: Servers are back online and it seems that all the errors have stopped at least in Europe.

SimCity came out in North America earlier this week but the sudden influx of players caught EA off-guard, as its servers weren't prepared for the massive strain caused by millions of SimCity fans.

For the game's release in Europe today, March 8, EA promised that the online service would handle the strain.

Sadly, it seems that this didn't happen, as already quite a few gamers are complaining of unresponsive servers inside SimCity and unresponsive downloads in the Origin service.

According to PocketLint, these issues started at midnight, when the game went live on Origin.

As of right now, players still have to endure lengthy waiting times before they can even connect to SimCity's servers.
