A new update from Maxis studio leader Lucy Bradshaw reveals that so far, more than 8 million hours of gameplay time have been logged into SimCity and that the frequency of connectivity issues is now 92 percent lower than on launch.

Despite the improvements, Maxis is not issuing an All Clear for the game and will continue to monitor servers and make sure that all players who want to play SimCity are able to do so.

Bradshaw adds, “I can’t begin to explain the way a development team feels when something you’re proud of is threatened at launch. Our biggest fear was that people who love this franchise would be scared off by bad reviews about the connectivity issues.”

Electronic Arts has also announced that all those who register SimCity until March 18 will get access to their pick of a free title from the company’s catalog on the PC.
