Hardware makers and PC suppliers may prefer to launch new products on a regular basis, but there come times when they see the necessity to refresh a certain product line or product type that they already have on hand. Often, cases arise when a certain item is more popular than the rest. With the 'freshness' factor being what it is, companies sometimes refine their creations, hoping to reap the benefits of both existing popularity and the semblance of novelty. Something along those lines is what SilverStone did with the Precision PS01 series of computer cases.

SilverStone unveiled the PS01-E, the newest member in this collection. It is somewhat lighter than its predecessor and is coated with black on the inside, instead of the gray that the PS01 featured. Needless to say, the enclosure has the full range of storage, expansion and I/O capabilities that one would expect to see in a full tower casing.

There are a total of nine exposed 5.25-inch drive bays, as well as a motherboard tray cut-out, meant to make the installation of coolers with backplates much easier than they would be otherwise. SilverStone also implemented front USB, FireWire and audio ports, as well as a pair of 120mm fans. One is set on the front of the chassis and has a blue LED light, whereas the other one, without LEDs, is set at the back. All of these components are packed inside a frame measuring 200 (W) x 456 (H) x 500 (D) mm and weighing 6.74 kg. Finally, the two fans have a rotary speed of 1,200 RPM, which should provide a strong internal airflow.

The SilverStone Precision PS01-E has not yet started shipping, but it will become available soon, in two versions. One will have a side window, whereas the other will not. The price will be of 70 Euro.
