ASUS and Google have been long rumored to plan the launch of a new flavor of the Nexus 7 tablet PC, and it seems that shipments of the device might start as soon as this month.

According to a recent article on DigiTimes, the new slate version is also expected to pack a 7-inch low-temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) panel coming from AU Optronics (AUO).

Apparently, the first million second-generation Nexus 7 devices should be shipped before the end of this month, with around eight million devices expected to ship before this year is over.

The slate is also said to be en route to the market later this summer, although no specific details on its release date have been provided as of now.

With no official confirmation on this available yet, we’ll take the info with a grain of salt. However, more should emerge soon, so stay tuned.
