South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is reportedly getting ready for the launch of a new handset powered by Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, and might have the device ready for prime time at CES 2012 in January.

Rumor has it that the new device would be powered by Intel's latest Atom processor, codenamed Medfield. Intel seems pretty confident in the performance capabilities of its new CPU, which suggests that we might see a great device launched in roughly a month.

Samsung reportedly expanded its partnership with Intel to cover smartphones as well, and CES might be the place where the first outcome of this relationship would make an official appearance.

Moreover, the handset is expected to arrive on shelves in the United States at wireless carrier Sprint, although nothing is confirmed on the matter for the time being.
