Samsung has just announced the release of a new mobile application processor, the Exynos 5250, a dual-core chip based on Cortex-A15.

The new processor has each core clocked in at 2GHz and has been manufactured using the new 32nm technology, which should result in the delivery of up to four times the gaming performance of Samsung's Cortex A9 processors (in addition to being twice as fast).

The processor arrives with support for resolutions of up to WQXGA (1600 x 2560), as well as for 3D stereoscopic screens.

For the time being, Samsung is aiming at putting the CPU inside tablets, but that does not exclude the possibility of having it powering high-end smartphones at some point in the future, especially since the company is rumored to plan on soon bringing quad-core chips to the market.
