With NVIDIA having finally launched its mainstream to high-end graphics card GeForce GTX 460, the market is practically swarming with custom models from various hardware makers already. Around such times, other companies usually refrain from unleashing too many products of their own in order to avoid them being overshadowed. On the other hand, launches like this may make certain other devices, such as display solutions, more appealing. Samsung seems to have taken this into account and has brought out the SyncMaster FX2490HD.

The SyncMaster FX2490HD is a 24-inch monitor that has full support for Full HD video quality (has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels). This means that the performance and high-quality picture side of the equation is already filled out, leaving ti to the overall aspect and special additions to make it turn heads. There are two such details that truly make this device stand out.

The overall design is one of the elements, and the more obvious. To be more specific, the SyncMaster FX2490HD has a glossy frame and a four-feet stand, plated with chrome. Such features definitely make it more eye-catching that most of its competitors. The other useful feature is the integrated TV Tuner that makes it compatible with more than just any PC. Other specifications include a brightness of 250 cd/m2, a 5ms response time, two 5W speakers, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and LED backlighting. Finally, in addition to the tuner, the display can receive video input via HDMI and SCART connectors.

Unfortunately, consumers won't be able to immediately pair this with their favorite graphics card, since it hasn't actually started selling yet. In fact, availability is only slated for August. On the bright side, those that do want their hands on it will have enough time to save up the 429 Euro needed to acquire it.
