Last week, Google and Samsung announced the release of a new smartphone running under the Android platform, namely the Galaxy Nexus, the very first device in the world to be powered by Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of Google's mobile OS.

The handset comes with a 4.65-inch screen that was said to be a standard Super AMOLED display, and which was just confirmed not to sport the Gorilla Glass technology from Corning.

However, it appears that the new device comes with a special type of display, with a “fortified glass” on top of it, which supposedly offers similar durability as the Gorilla Glass display would have delivered.

Unfortunately, no other info on this display emerged for the time being, though more on the matter will certainly become available as results from stress tests emerge.
