14 DAY TRIAL // Since Samsung announced the Galaxy S5 earlier this year, fans have been disappointed by the fact that the South Korean company doesn’t seem capable of coming out with something new in terms of design.
While everyone expected this year’s flagship smartphone in the Galaxy S lineup to be a real game changer thanks to its metallic body, Samsung came up with the same obsolete design and a slightly better plastic chassis that did not have anything to do with what fans expected.
Even though we have learned that when it comes to Samsung we shouldn’t have high expectations, especially in regard to the design of its own products, it looks like the company is now trying to offer customers what it couldn’t a few months ago.
Recently released on the market, the new Samsung Galaxy Alpha comes to bring some closure to Android fans who want a premium handset manufactured by this particular company.
Bear in mind though that the Galaxy Alpha is not the metallic version of the Galaxy S5, which had been rumored even before the latter made it official.
Samsung Galaxy Alpha is a downgraded Galaxy S5 that features metallic design, which is in fact its main selling point. The bad news is that the smartphone isn’t cheap at all, as customers can order it for no less than €600 ($805) outright.
Well, it looks like the Galaxy Alpha was just the first device in a new series that Samsung plans to launch, possibly at IFA 2014 trade fair.
The folks over at SamMobile have just learned from their insiders that Samsung will soon debut the A series of smartphones. Samsung has no less than three new A series devices ready for launch, and they will feature the same design of the Galaxy Alpha, which means that they will also include some sort of metal in their construction.
These three smartphones are known as Samsung SM-A300, SM-A500 and SM-A700 and will be priced differently. All three A series handsets will be aimed at the mid-range smartphone market, but we’re not sure that they will also be priced accordingly.
The only details we have on the A series is the fact that Samsung SM-A300 will sport a qHD (950 x 540 pixels) capacitive touchscreen display, while the other two smartphones in the same lineup will be packed with HD screens.
Another highlight of these mid-range smartphones will be the fact that they will come with better front-facing cameras than the rest of Samsung’s devices.
According to sources familiar with Samsung’s future plans, the A series should make its debut sometime in Q3, but it’s unclear whether or not they will be announced in early September at IFA 2014.
