Brand new tracks to make you famous

It seems that these summer months are some really special ones, since Rock Band (and not only) keeps finding occasions to bring us brand new things. And we have nothing against this, of course, since we were completely amazed by the recently released facebook application. However, this time, Harmonix is talking about the real deal: a few new songs to download, in order to celebrate Cr?efest, one of this summer's hottest concert packages.

We're talking about top act M?tley Cr?e here (with the song "Down At The Whisky"), Grammy nominees Papa Roach (who plan to remind you that "Time Is Running Out") and hard rockers Trapt (telling you "Who's Going Home With You Tonight"). All these songs will be available, for a limited amount of time, at a price of 99? per track (80 MS Points) starting the 1st of July, when Cr?efest launches.

However, Harmonix has decided to offer a free gift together with these three songs and, after having checked the upcoming comedy The Rocker, they found the perfect band for the job: the fictitious hair metal band Vesuvius, with their track "Promised Land". Their hit will be, as I've said, offered as a free download both for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

Rock Band is also teaming up with Cr?efest for the whole tour, with Rock Band competitions taking place on every market - so it might not be enough to only download the tracks if you want to enjoy the full experience. Both fans and players can hit the "Rock Band Second Stage Experience" and compete for the chance to play the game on stage as opening acts of the headliners (just how cool is that?), win backstage passes to the Rock Band VIP area (probably and unfortunately no groupies are involved... but one can never know), score a "meet and greet" with all the artists on the tour and play Rock Band backstage with Cr?efest artists. These are the actual reasons we call this new downloadable content "special".
