Capcom has confirmed that the upcoming Resident Evil: Revelations title for the Nintendo 3DS handheld console won't be using the infamous single save system as introduced by the recent Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D.

The Japanese company caused quite an uproar when gamers found out that they couldn't delete their save game in The Mercenaries 3D, as it was kept on the actual game's card, meaning if you sold the game to another person or traded it in, those who bought it weren't able to start the game anew, instead just replay through the missions passed by the first owner.

Capcom mentioned its decision wasn't tied to the used game market, but it has admitted, via Joystiq, that, in order to provide an optimum user experience, the upcoming Resident Evil: Revelations, the second title in the series for the 3DS, won't use that system, meaning the game will allow people to erase their save games if they want it.

Resident Evil: Revelations is expected on January 26, in Japan, January 27, in Europe, and February 7, in North America, only on the 3DS.
