All in the first few months

The Resident Evil franchise is one of the most popular horror survival series of video games out there, with the company responsible for it, Capcom, reaping some huge benefits off of its popularity and its loyal fan base who will buy almost any release with the brand, even though it isn't as good as the previous ones.

Such is the case with Resident Evil 5, which copied the recipe of its predecessor, RE4, and threw in some more annoying things, and which, according to Capcom, has now sold over 5 million copies worldwide since its release at the beginning of March.

According to his company's data, the chief financial officer of Capcom, Kazuhiko Abe, stated that, in the month of its release, RE5 managed to move over 4,4 million copies across the world for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 platforms. “We are still enjoying strong demand, very strong demand, that is,” Abe said to Reuters. “In the single month of April, sales came to as many as 570,000 units.”

So this makes almost 5 million, but let's not forget that the sales in the month of May still haven't been counted, except for the Japanese territory, which took the game past the 5 million mark. It's quite a significant achievement for the game, but Capcom is prepared to see sales fall, as almost all hardcore gamers who were interested in the game have bought it, and there aren't a lot of people left to purchase it in the future.

But don't forget that the PC version will be released at the end of the year, so we might get to see another boost in sales for the action survival zombie shooter then. Until then, have fun killing more and more zombies in the fictional Kijuju.
