Be careful where you step and who's following your movement

Within the first hour of The Walking Dead video game, my character has slipped on human blood two times, which, in my view, is a bad sign for the coming zombie-based adventures that will involve Lee Everet and Clementine.

Telltale Games has managed to get access to The Walking Dead rights, which have already spawned a very solid television series in addition to the core comic book, and they appear to have created a solid modern adventure game around it, complete with multiple-choice dialogues, some rather frantic action sequences and a few plot twists.

The developers have adopted a very simple hand-drawn style for The Walking Dead, which is well suited to the zombie apocalypse theme, although the game engine sometimes stutters, especially when a large number of enemies are present on screen at the same time.

But the core of the experience so far is not that of a survival horror in the vein of Resident Evil but that of a good old adventure in the Telltale Games manner, something that sits very close to the old Sam & Max revival, if one puts the apocalypse theme out of his mind.

I am still in the early hours of The Walking Dead, but I already have some problems with the pace of the plot, which seems too slow for a solid zombie experience and the two human characters I have so far encountered seem far too quick to come together and cooperate given the circumstances.

I play the game on the PC and the control scheme has also been a little unwieldy, especially when the mouse and keys need to be used at the same time, but, to my surprise, the action sequences were pretty engaging and quick.

Take a look at the video attached to this article to get a taste of the conversation system in The Walking Dead and a quick glimpse of how the action unfolds.
