Video games are slowly getting rid of their stigmas and the misconceptions surrounding them, at least according to Quantic Dream, the studio behind interactive experiences such as Heavy Rain or the upcoming Beyond: Two Souls.

Quantic Dream has strived to deliver meaningful titles over the years, and its last few projects showed that video games don't have to be first-person shooters or mindless distractions.

According to the studio's CEO, Guillaume de Fondaumiere, such bold experiments have helped games get rid of the stigmas associated with them over the years.

"I think that things have evolved. I think people understand that some of the criticism that has been on gaming; the stigma that has been on gaming…has been exaggerated," de Fondaumiere told GameSpot.

Even so, the executive emphasizes that more video games need to prove that games can be meaningful.

"There needs also to be projects, or products, if I may say so, that show that we’re doing something meaningful. I think that our responsibility as a medium is to be maybe a little bit more meaningful with what we're doing."

Beyond: Two Souls is set to appear this year for PS3, and Quantic Dream is confident that it will show the power of games.
