Dutch developer Heartcore Games is currently working on Project Stealth, a 2v2 multiplayer stealth-based action thriller focused on intense, asymmetrical action and teamwork.

Project Stealth is undergoing a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, aiming to raise the necessary funds to create the asymmetrical multiplayer shooter.

The premise is simple, there are two teams of two players each, the Mercenaries, elite soldiers with bulky armor and heavy weaponry, defending any location at all costs, and the Spies, athletic ghosts that are quick on their feet and employ a wide variety of gadgets and distraction tactics in order to outsmart and outplay their opponents.

The developers are great fans of Ubisoft's Splinter Cell series of video games, citing them as the main source of inspiration for the upcoming Project Stealth.

The devs state their goal to be providing an extra option to fans of the multiplayer stealth-action genre, as there are currently not too many such titles available.

The gameplay is designed to be very tense and fast-paced, requiring flawless coordination in order to achieve the mission objectives. One wrong move can mean tipping the balance of power in the other team's favor, and, as opposed to regular shooters, when one of the team members dies, it's usually game over.

The main draw of Project Stealth is the asymmetrical multiplayer, offering a challenging and novel experience, a welcome alternative to the way things are usually handled in multiplayer shooters, where your choice of faction bears no actual importance during the game.

The Spies have low health, non-lethal weapons, and have to be very careful when navigating the maps, sneaking and lurking in the dark and only coming into the light for a takedown. They have to keep track of the mercenaries and evade their patrols, as well as all the other defense and detection mechanisms, such as cameras, lasers and mines.

The typical gameplay for Spies is more like a very tense puzzle-solving game, where one wrong move can mean the difference between victory and defeat.

The Mercenaries are the polar opposites of the Spies, constantly out in the open, roaming the map and guarding chokepoints and objectives. They have the advantage of heavy weaponry and many static and dynamic defense systems to alert them to the Spies' presence, but that doesn't mean it's any easier for them either.

The typical gameplay for Mercenaries involves fast-paced and nervous tactical maneuvering, as it only takes one wrong move or one second of not paying attention to a dark corner for the Spies to grab you.

The developers feel that the exciting and non-standard gameplay is their strongest asset with Project Stealth, offering a ton of innovative and unique gameplay mechanics to serve the stealth-based experience.
