Porteus, a portable Linux operating system which can be installed on a portable USB device, CDROM, SD card or hard drive, and based on the Linux Live Scripts, has just reached version 1.1.

Porteus 1.1 has been released for 32-bit and 64-bit architectures and has quite a few changes compared to the previous Release Candidate.

The most important features are a new graphical installer and a revamped Porteus Package Manager, which now has a better GUI interface, providing users with hundreds of packages and their respective dependencies.

Moreover, Porteus 1.1 now features Linux kernel 3.1.8, which is an improvement from the RC release. The developers also dropped the Broadcom driver, switched default runlevel to 4, and upgraded ndiswrapper to latest stable version.

A complete list of changes can be found in the official announcement.
