The development team at Game Freak and publisher Nintendo announce that they will allow players of the upcoming Pokemon X & Y to use a starting line-up consisting of the classic Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle.

The new game also gives fans the options of changing their experience a little by beginning their adventure with Chespin, Froakie and Fennekin.

The three classic creatures will also have new Mega Evolution breeds that players can unlock as long as they do a number of quests in the Pokemon X & Y, allowing them to become Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard and Mega Blastoise.

The team also says that all creatures that have been captured in Pokemon Black & White and the sequels can be moved to the new game via the new Poke Transformer.

Pokemon X & Y will be out on the 3DS on October 12.
