Sony has talked a bit more about its PlayStation 4 next-gen console, emphasizing the degree of choice it gives gamers in regards to peripherals and used games, while pledging to reveal more details about the console at Gamescom 2013 in August.

The PS4 was presented to the world back in February and, since then, Sony has shared more and more details about it, including a price of 399 USD/EUR.

The next-gen console, according to Sony UK boss Fergal Gara, is built around giving gamers choice in terms of many aspects.

"PS4 is about giving gamers choice," he told Techradar.

"So if you don't want a camera you don't have to have a camera. If you want to trade in games, you can trade in games. So there's been nothing in the whole proposition that is overly restrictive and I think the reaction has proved that people value that."

While there's just a single PlayStation 4 retail bundle on the market, Gara doesn't rule out other packs that will be made available closer to the console's launch.

"The way UK retail is it's quite flexible really so we can create soft bundles as we call them. But it's great to see that the retailers are hungry for these kind of conversations, they're seeing the potential. They want to talk to us and the PS4 and Vita devices put together is not a huge amount more than the PlayStation 3 was when we launched that."

What's more, Gara emphasizes that quite a few more details will be shared in the following months, including at Gamescom 2013 in August.

"There's more to be revealed around services and what else is going to come with the package you know, when it launches and what more can people expect so we'll go into more detail about that probably around about Gamescom time so we won't go into that today but take it from me, we designed the machine for the long haul."

The PlayStation 4 is expected to appear at the end of the year, probably in November.
