A brand new report has appeared online seemingly confirming that the PlayStation 4 will be released in late October, much earlier than previously rumored and ahead of Microsoft's Xbox One.

Sony has confirmed plenty of details about the PlayStation 4 in recent months, including lots of great info at E3 2013.

Sadly, the launch date for the next-gen console is still unknown, as Sony committed only to a holiday 2013 release period.

Now, after hearing a leaked release date, a new report has appeared online, via NeoGAF user CBOAT, who seemingly confirms that the PS4 is going to be released by Sony in late October.

Apparently, hardware and firmware for the console is practically complete and developers can already compile the final versions of their games for the PlayStation 4.

Sony is set to hold a press conference tomorrow at Gamescom 2013 so the launch date might be made official at that time.
