One of the leaders of Epic Games has revealed that the development team working on the upcoming Gears of War: Judgment has attended a workshop with animation creator Pixar in order to improve the storytelling in their project.

Rod Fergusson, who is the production director at Epic Games, has told Game Informer that, “We’ve been trying to improve on storytelling since we started.”

He believes, “this seemed like a natural way of getting a little bit of insight into how what we consider to be the best in the industry.”

Epic Games has been criticized for the one-dimensional nature of most of the characters included in the Gears of War series and has tried to inject emotion into the most recent installments.

In Gears of Wars: Judgment gamers will take on the role of Damon Baird and the entire game events are a prequel to the series, taking place during the events of Emergence Day.

The game launches exclusively on the Xbox 360 during the fall.
