While you’re taking a break from the likes of Skyrim or Modern Warfare 3, you might want to check out Pid, a new 2D side-scrolling platformer made by independent studio Might and Delight, which is set to appear in 2012.

As you can see in the video above, Pid is a colorful side-scrolling platformer, which follows the adventures of a little guy called Pid, who is stuck on an alien world filled with unique environments and enemies.

Luckily for Pid and the player, he can throw special orbs that, when stuck on a wall, project a beam of light that levitates anything that steps into it, from Pid himself to enemies or even projectiles. Plus, the game even has a cooperative mode, so players can work together and take down their enemies.

Pid is set to be released next year, on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, via digital distribution services like Steam, PSN, or XBLA, although the studio has yet to find a publisher.

Check out the trailer above and let’s hope that Might and Delight will be able to amaze us with Pid next year.
