Sony has just unveiled its much craved for system software 2.0 update developed for the PlayStation 4 gaming console, which adds a highly awaited new feature, just like announced at the company's Gamescom 2014 press conference, namely the producer’s SHARE PLAY innovation.

What is Share Play?

The PS4 console will allow you to create a party and invite any PlayStation Plus member to play your games without them having to own or download anything in order to use this feature. This addition includes 3 big options that will make you feel as if your friend is next to you.

First of all, you can share your screen with any PS4 user and get useful tips that help you achieve different goals or trophies. Moreover, this option can be used regardless of whether you are a PS Plus member.

Secondly, Share Play gives you the ability to pass the controller to a friend (virtually) and let him get over the hard section of the game, or at least try. In order for this option to be available, at least the host must own a PlayStation Plus membership.

Last but not least, the option that requires both parties to be PS Plus members is the one that allows them to play the games at the same time either together or against one another (local multiplayer must be supported).

Themes & Colors

Fortunately, Share Play isn’t the only new feature that Sony’s Masamune firmware brings. System Software 2.00 also allows users to personalize their home screen background with different themes and colors.

In addition to that, Destiny and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare themes should also be available for download as a celebration for this awaited firmware update.

YouTube integration, USB music player, and others

Through this new firmware, users are now able to upload game highlights directly to YouTube using the “SHARE” button and play music files from any connected USB drive.

Moreover, Live Broadcasting enhancements, Content Area & Library improvements, potential friend suggestions, as well as various other changes will be implemented once your PS4 is upgraded (you can view the complete Release Notes via the button below).

Don’t know how to install?

Well, first create a “PS4/UPDATE” path on a formatted USB drive, copy the downloadable .pup file into the newly created “UPDATE” folder, and connect it to the PlayStation 4 console.

Now go to Settings > System Software Update, follow the on-screen instructions, and make sure you allow the PS4 to perform the upgrade. Bear in mind that powering off the console or disconnecting the USB storage will cause irreversible device malfunction.

Therefore, don’t waste any more time and download Sony PlayStation 4 Firmware 2.00, take into account all aforementioned aspects, apply the new system software update, and share with us your first impression regarding these new features.
