They don’t say “mo’ money, mo’ problems” for nothing, it seems. Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy, recently lost a $20,000 ring and, in a desperate attempt to get it back – which he never did, for that matter – he sequestrated and had his security guys frisk all 160 members of the audience for it, the New York Post reports.

The incident occurred while shooting the BET music-video show “106 & Park” at the CBS studios, reports in the media say. Diddy’s ring seems to have dropped off his finger as he was hurling fake $100 bills to the audience. The moment he noticed it was gone, he told the 160 members of the audience they were not allowed to leave the set until everybody was frisked for it. Said and done, but the ring was still not found.

“A lot of people askin[g] about a ring I lost. Yes I did. And that’s ok. I lose things too. You win some you lose some. My loss is anothers gain. Its ok to lose things because it makes you appreciate what you still have! I didn’t like that ring any way! Lol lol let’s goooooo!” Diddy wrote on his Twitter page later on, confirming that he had, indeed, misplaced a jewelry item. He made no mention though of the so-called “hostage situation,” as one can easily note.

Yet this is not all that went down while shooting, the same publication informs. Apparently, madness also ensued when audience members noticed that some of the bills Diddy was throwing around were not fakes, but actual money – that was before they all became upset about being held hostages for the lost ring.

“At the beginning of the show, Diddy and members of his new hip-hop group, Dirty Money, could be seen prancing around the stage tossing wads of fake $100 bills. But once the crowd saw there was real cash mixed in, a free-for-all erupted. ‘The audience went wild,’ said BET spokeswoman Marcy Polanco. ‘We were like, “Oh, my God!”’ Sources said there were about $25 to $100 in singles mixed in with the funny money.” writes the Post.
