It’s hard to determine whether Windows 8 is selling well or not right now since Microsoft refuses to provide official statistics on its new operating system, but figures and estimates released by analysts claim that it’s a rather disappointing product.

Barron’s writes that MKM Partners has decided to keep its “neutral” rating on Microsoft shares, explaining that Windows 8 sales are likely to remain weak in the third quarter of the year.

“Consumers are avoiding Windows 8 in favor of Apple iOS and Google Android devices,” MKM Partners said, so this might be an indication that Microsoft’s new operating system won’t recover anytime soon.

If we are to trust some other high-profile executives close to Microsoft’s business, Windows 8 is already showing signs of recovery, so it’s expected to boost its sales in the upcoming months.
