OCZ Toolbox firmware updater 3.02.09 helps you upgrade your Vertex 4 SSD

Here we go with a new firmware version for the OCZ Vertex 4 solid state drives; release 1.4 brings a lot of enhancements which will make users happy but also fixes some of the reported issues.

First of all, the new firmware fixes the S3/ S4 cycling issues reported by users who ran the Vertex 4 SSD with older motherboards. This stability hazard seems to have been eliminated in the new firmware version, and so are host compatibility troubles experienced by some users. The OCZ Vertex 4 drives returned some errors with dated / uncommon BIOS revisions, but things should return back to normal once you have upgraded to firmware 1.4.

The new firmware comes with enhanced sequential write performance for the 128 and 256 GB models, while the low queue depth read capability has also been increased. Reading performance for files under 4K has been enhanced, and the overall behavior under certain read/write mixed conditions has also been improved.

Since upgrading to firmware 1.4 is a destructive process, OCZ recommends to back up all the important data on the SSD prior to running the Toolbox. At the same time, please make sure you are not trying to upgrade the firmware for the SSD you're also running your Windows from.
