The first Australian carrier to launch a Windows Phone 8.1 handset, Optus, is now selling the Lumia 635 and is likely to start offering the Lumia 930 as well. However, the Lumia 930 will also be available for purchase through other major carriers in the country, including Vodafone and Telstra.

Still, for the time being, none of these operators offers the high-end smartphone, though Microsoft confirmed Nokia Lumia 930 would be available for purchase in Australia sometime this month.

Windows Phone fans who do not wish to wait until any of these major carriers bring the Lumia 930 may want to take into consideration Mobicity’s current offer on the smartphones.

Nokia Lumia 930 can now be purchased through Mobicity for $700 (€480) outright, and according to the retailer the smartphone is SIM-free and unlocked.

Mobicity also confirms the Lumia 930 is fully compatible with the following networks: Optus/Vodafone/Telstra 2G, Telstra/Voda NextG 3G 850, Optus/Vodafone 3G 900, 3G 1900, Optus/Vodafone 3G 2100, Telstra/Optus/Virgin/iiNet 4G, LTE 2600.

Last but not least, it is also worth mentioning that customers can choose from three color versions when purchasing the Lumia 930: black, white and orange.

Nokia Lumia 930 is one of the first smartphones to ship with Windows Phone 8.1 operating system out of the box. It’s also the most powerful of the three Windows Phone 8.1 handsets launched on the market.

The device comes equipped with a powerful 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

Keep in mind that the Lumia 930 does not come with microSD card slot for memory expansion, but the phone comes packed with 32GB of internal memory by default. Microsoft also throws in some free could storage via OneDrive, so it should be enough even for the heavy users.

Nokia Lumia 930 boasts a hyper-vibrant 5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p), ClearBlack display technology, as well as Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for extra protection.

Another strong point of the smartphone would be the 20-megapixel rear-facing camera with Carl Zeiss lens, OIS (optical image stabilization), autofocus, dual-LED flash and PureView technology.

The main camera can capture full HD (1080p) videos, while the secondary 1.2-megapixel camera in the front is good enough for selfies and video calls.

The Lumia 930 offers LTE support Cat4, as well as Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, microUSB and GPS with AGPS. The phone is also powered by 2430 mAh battery, which should provide up to 430 hours of standby time and up to 11.5 hours of talk time.
