Nokia promises its next update will make the problem go away

Back in December I brought you news that the Nokia’s only tablet, the Lumia 2520, was plagued by a sleep mode bug.

Basically, some users were complaining on the official Nokia forums that their screen froze, after the tablet was placed in sleep mode. Both AT&T and Verizon models were reported to have the issues and the only thing users could seemingly do is perform a hard reset.

Now, a month later, the issue is still not fixed and some users are getting quite frustrated and asking for some compensation from the company.

Forum user LamiaGuy says “Another victim here with a UK device. was fine for 3 weeks and the suddenly last week its happening every time I take up the tablet.”

“Comon Nokia, get this sorted and Id welcome a keyboard/cover to compensate me for the frustration.”

Some users, like moelassus, have even taken the device back to the carrier they have purchased it from and have received a replacement

“I took mine back to AT&T and exchanged it for another one. The second one works like a champ.”

Nokia apparently chose to remain silent, while users are desperately trying to come up with a solution and an explanation. But a Nokia forum moderator has finally posted a reply, which is pretty vague.

“Sorry for the inconvenience it is causing you. A fix for this issue will be available in the next coming update.”

No one knows when the update is coming, but users of Nokia Lumia 2520, sit tight and wait, if you can. In the meanwhile, forum member WCH1 has identified a fix that apparently works for a number of Lumia tablet users, so it might hopefully work for you too.

“Go to the device manager (you can go to control panel and click on SYSTEM and then device manager will be in the upper left corner). Go to the very bottom and find Universal Serial Bus controllers.”

“Click on the arrow next to it and it will reveal 2 "USB Root Hub" devices. Double click (or double tap).”

“On each one, choose Power Management tab from the top. Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Then click on OK.”

“Be sure to do this on both device ISB Root Hub listings.”

Nokia will hopefully try to move things along by fixing the issue, because ignoring users’ cry out for help is certainly not the way to go.
