Nintendo wants to draw in different types of games with new controllers

Nintendo presented quite a lot of new details about the Wii U during its pre-E3 2012 conference earlier today and, in between showing off the tablet controller that is now dubbed the Wii U GamePad, and the Miiverse social network, it has also showcased the special Wii U Pro Controller.

The Nintendo Wii U is set to use its own special GamePad as the main means of controlling its games and features, but this doesn’t mean that the company won’t release different types of controllers, in order to draw in more users.

Among them is the “Pro” version you can see above, which is quite similar to the regular Xbox 360 controller, although its right thumbstick is located above the face buttons, and not the other way around, like on the Microsoft device.

Besides this difference, the controllers look almost the same and will no doubt get many Xbox 360 users to try out the Wii U later this year, when it’s launched all over the world.

Expect to hear some more details about the Wii U later today, when Nintendo holds its official E3 2012 press conference.
