Mozilla has revealed that the Metro port of its browser would be called Firefox for Windows 8 Touch, thus confirming that we’re getting really close to the official launch.

While the only thing we have for now is this name, Firefox for Windows 8 Touch is expected to be launched in January, with support to be offered for both Windows 8 and 8.1 operating systems.

The application will also work on Windows RT tablets, although it’s not yet clear right now whether it will offer compatibility for ARM devices from the get go or Mozilla will add it later after launch.

Firefox for Windows 8 Touch will be the first important rival for Internet Explorer, as Microsoft’s own browser is at this point the only choice for users look to browse the web from the Modern UI.
