The number of games available in the Windows Phone Store and the Windows Phone and created with the Unity development software is increasing, with new stats pointing to 2,000 titles that are now offered for download to users.

Unity revealed in a blog post that some developers are experiencing quite a phenomenal success with their apps, so it encouraged others to have a look at Microsoft’s platform and port their popular apps to Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.

“Last November I shared with you that we’d surpassed 1000 games made with Unity across Windows Store and Windows Phone. Well, it looks like the momentum in the Unity developer community continues to grow, with more than 2000 games now available in our stores!” the post reads.

At the same time, Microsoft continues efforts to bring more apps in the store, so the company is even considering a new plan to allow Android apps to run on Windows. This significant change could take place in Windows 9, as Microsoft is still working with partners on the necessary technologies to make this possible.
