Video game publisher Capcom has announced, during a Game Jam event in Japan, that it plans to launch Monster Hunter 4 during spring 2013 on the home market, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS handheld.

The company has also confirmed that the game will include fan favorites Tigrex and Rathalos as monsters.

Monster Hunter 4 is set to be a direct sequel to Tri and is the first video game in the long-running franchise that will be first offered on a mobile gaming device.

The game will use the Circle Pad Pro accessory and it will probably also be playable on the new XL version of the Nintendo 3DS.

The core action role-playing game mechanics of the series will be kept in place, but the development team at Capcom has suggested that it will evolve some of them in order to show off what the Nintendo handheld can do.

It’s not clear when the game might be brought to Western markets.
